can I get council publications in a different format?
Yes - Broadland District Council offers all publications in the following formats
- Large print format for the partially sighted
- Audio format for the blind
- Braille for the blind
Simply phone the Communications department on 01603 430523 to request a Council publication in the format you require.
can I get information in a different language?
Yes - The Council is a member of INTRAN, the Norfolk wide interpretation and translation service which includes face-to-face interpreting, and translation of documents to different languages.
I have a hearing impairment will I be able to hear?
Yes - the Council has a portable hearing loop available for use throughout the Council building and within the Council chamber and meeting rooms.
We are also a member of INTRAN which offer translators with British Sign Language. Staff can organise British Sign language interpreters as required.
I find using websites difficult / I'm visually impaired - can I still use the council website?
Yes. We are currently putting the finishing touches to ReadSpeaker; a programme which means you can listen to the content of the website being read out to you.

can I access the council building in a wheelchair?
Yes the building is very accessible. There is disabled visitor parking with a slope leading up to the entrance doors. There is also a low desk at reception allowing easy communication between reception staff and yourself. A lift is available up to the Council chamber and meeting rooms.
The Council also run a mobile information centre which operates five days a week stopping at eleven points for a morning or an afternoon session.
I can't get my wheelie bin to my front door can you help?
Yes - if you are unable to move your wheelie bin to the front of your home for collection due to physical disability, we can arrange for your bin to be collected and put back from where it is kept.
If you would like your bin collected from the back of your house contact the Environmental Contracts Team on to find out if you are eligible.

am I eligible for concessionary travel?
The Council fund an older persons and disabled bus pass. For more information and to see if you are eligible, please visit the concessionary bus passes page.
I'm disabled and need to improve access to my home,
is there any help available?
Means tested mandatory disabled facilities grants are available, for more information visit the disability facilities grants page.
