There are 20 Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC) in Norfolk. 3 of these are located in or around the Broadland district:

  • Mayton Wood HWRC, Little Hautbois, Near Coltishall, Norfolk, NR12 7JX
    (just off the B1354 at Horstead)
  • Strumpshaw HWRC, Stone Road, Strumpshaw, Norfolk, NR13 4HR
    (signposted off the A47 near Brundall)
  • Mile Cross HWRC, Swanton Road, Norwich, NR2 4LH
    (just off Mile Cross Lane)

who is responsible for the recycling centres?

Recycle for Norfolk logoNorfolk County Council manages the HWRC's under contract and is responsible for the policies in force.

Residents should only recycle and/or dispose of waste from the dwelling in which they live.

re-use at norfolk's recycling centres

7 of the existing HWRC's now operate re-use shops (including Mayton Wood HWRC in Broadland) enabling members of the public to drop off some household items that they think can be re-used and allow them to purchase desirable items for a small fee (i.e. car boot prices).

From April 2014 the services at Norfolk County Council's household waste and recycling centres will change. The centres will no longer accept paint and there will be a charge for the disposal of tyres, with a maximum of 5 tyres allowed per household per month. Further information about these changes is available to download from the document section.
