community clear up scheme
As part of the Council's ongoing campaign to clear up the district, the Council has been offering communities in its area support to clear up known grot spots. These areas - most often community land which are not cleared as part of the Council's cleansing responsibilities – can be unsightly and encourage fly tipping.
The initiative provides support to local residents and community groups who want to organise a clear up of their local area, using local volunteers. The Council is able to provide litter picking tools, protective gloves, high visibility tabards, plastic sacks and where necessary will arrange for the collection and disposal of materials collected.
what to do next...
- Contact the Street Scene Team:
- If you want to take part in the community clear up scheme to improve the appearance and cleanliness of your local area
- If you know of a heavily littered verge, fly tipped waste on the roadside or a dog fouling issue in your area (we generally aim to clear litter within five working days, fly tipped waste within one working day and will assess and clear dog fouling and, where appropriate, put up signage to encourage proper dog control)
further information
The Council's Street Scene team works closely with our Cleansing contractor, Veolia, to keep the district free of litter and clean up to the standard required by the Code of Practice on Litter and Refuse issued under Section 89 of the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
We work hard to ensure that Broadland remains a cleaner, safer and greener district in which to live. However, there is always room for improvement and with your help we can raise the standard of cleanliness even higher.
