Buying food from local producers is good for the economy as it helps support local businesses and is also good for the environment, as it reduces the distance food travels from producer to plate.

further information

Broadland District Council launched Local Food is our Business, specifically aimed at encouraging local businesses to use locally produced food. Broadland residents and local people might also want to use the directory to find out about the local producers selling good quality foods on our doorstep. So we have published the directory online here for you to use.

The directory lists over 40 Broadland businesses who sell or produce locally sourced food, including bread made from Norfolk flour, meat reared on Broadland farms, beer produced from local barley, and fruit and vegetables grown on our doorstep.

Each of the businesses listed will display the Local Food is our Business window sticker in their shops so look out for the stickers when you are shopping.

The directory will be sent to all Broadland businesses including shops, hotels, B&Bs, pubs, restaurants, residential homes and larger companies operating canteens.
