supporting rural enterprise project
An 18 month outreach pilot project was designed to support Broadland's rural communities in the western villages of Foulsham, Themelthorpe, Guestwick, Wood Dalling, Heydon, Salle and Cawston, collectively known as the Eynesford ward.
The unique project was designed to reach out to groups and businesses particularly in these areas due to the isolation and limited available services. The project was co-funded by Broadland District Council and the Broadland Community Partnership and our thanks go to Sarah West who was Project Co-ordinator.

further information
63 micro enterprises and voluntary and community groups benefited from the wide range of project support. Support was offered in a wide range of formats including one to one coaching, specialist master casses, workshops, courses and a rang of printed back up information sheets. Broadland Council Training Services (BCTS) developed several new training courses as a direct result of the needs of the community.
A unique 'Enterprising Eynesford' directory has been designed as part of the pilot to showcase the diversity and increase awareness of local voluntary and community groups, businesses, enterprises and villages in the Eynesford ward. This directory was designed by Carl Durban, owner of a design micro business from Wood Dalling who took part in the project.
Carl has praised the scheme for the help it has given him. '' We really had no idea of the level of support that was available from Broadland District Council. Involvement in this project has made us review how we operate our business and it has also opened lots of new doors. Operating as a micro business in 'deepest darkest Norfolk' can be very isolated. The support from this project has been overwhelming and arrived at a perfect time for us.''
Following the success of the project, we are now in a position, depending on future funding, to run the scheme in other areas of Broadland, and work with other local authorities to use the template to run the project in other areas of Norfolk.
